Join us for the first ever Imagine Corvallis Action Network (ICAN) SOLVE event! It will be a place for you to form and reshape ideas, evaluate and assist on designs, collaborate and experiment, all while making new friends and professional contacts. Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 teams! 

8:30 am
Check-In

Grab a nametag, some coffee, and network with other participants.  

9:00 am
Opening Plenary: Welcome & Introductions

Mayor Biff Traber welcomes participants with a summary of the Imagine Corvallis Action Network and explains the role of the SOLVE events in helping drive our community vision into action. Next you’ll hear from local subject matter experts as they frame our challenge questions centered around the topic of Community Emergency Preparedness.

Ideate

Participants will begin to generate innovative ideas and solutions to the challenge topic and questions presented. This is your opportunity to dream big! There is no such thing as a bad idea.

Participants will then divide into self-selected groups. 

10:45 pm
Research, Refine, & Prototype

It’s time to get to the heart of our event. Participants will attempt to refine their ideas through research and input from the subject matter experts. Each group’s goal is to look into the impact, feasibility, logistics, and associated challenges for their idea in order to build a compelling pitch to present at the conclusion of the event. 

For this portion, participants are highly encouraged to utilize any laptops, tablets, or smartphones they may have brought with them to the event. Wifi will be available.

 

11:30 PM
Break & Connect

Grab some lunch (provided by CSD Catering) and check out what other groups are concocting! This is a great opportunity to connect with other participants and build on each others’ ideas. Subject matter experts will also be available to consult with or discuss potential challenges and feasibility for ideas.

 

12:00 PM
Research, Refine, & Prototype, Cont’d

In this portion participants will continue to do a deep dive into their ideas. Participants are encouraged to think about adding features, design changes, or trading feedback with other groups. 

 

1:15 PM
Pitch 

This is your team’s time to shine. Pitch your group’s idea or design to the audience and judges. Nervous to speak in front of people? No problem! We will have script templates available that are designed to help you stay on track and communicate effectively. 

 

2:00 PM
Closing Plenary: Winners Announced!

Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 teams!

 

Whats next? Each group is encouraged to submit their project as an initiative in the Community Action Plan (CAP).
